Organic Chemistry: Grignard Question!?

My response to this question is that the benzydrol reduces the extra equivalent of benzaldehyde to benzyl alcohol and is itself oxidised to benzophenone. I'm not totally comfortable with that explanation but after thinking about it overnight that is the best explanation I can give you.
